What is Eking (VoidCrypt) Ransomware?
Eking is the name of a new ransomware variant, based on VoidCrypt ransomware code.
Eking does almost nothing new when it comes to the established VoidCrypt formula. It will encrypt most files on the victim system, scrambling their contents and making them unreadable.
Encrypted files will receive a multi-part new extension consisting of the victim ID string, the email used by Eking's operator and the string ".eking". This will turn a file named "dociment.doc" into "document.doc.[ID string](ekingm2023@outlook.com).eking".
The ransomware drops its ransom demands inside a file named "INFO.txt". The full note goes as follows:
