Altruistics Trojan
Altruistics is the unusual name of a piece of malware that exhibits the features and functionality of a Trojan horse.
Altruistics is distributed through several methods, including malicious spam emails containing a file attachment, usually a macro-enabled document. The Trojan can also be found on malicious and dubious websites that claim to distribute cracks for paid software and games. Similar sites that claim to have key generators or cracked executables for paid software are common platforms used to distribute malicious files, including the Altruistics Trojan.
Altruistics may display most features of Trojan horses - keeping a low profile on the target system and performing various malicious tasks while staying under the radar. This may include data collection and exfiltration, spying on the user through screen capturing and keylogging, as well as capturing video and audio from any recording devices connected to the victim's PC.
Removal of similar threats usually requires a dedicated anti-malware solution, as Trojans will keep a very low profile and do their best to stay hidden and mask their activity from the user.
