Good Blocker Isn't Actually "Good, It's Adware!
Good Blocker is the name of a browser extension that claims to add useful functionality to your browsing experience by blocking ads. In reality, what it does is quite the opposite - having it installed leads to unsolicited new ads being displayed by your browser.
This is not the first such case we have covered. There have been similar extensions in the past, that claim to have useful functionality but end up polluting your browser with ads.
The ads on their own wouldn't be such a big issue. The trouble is that similar misleading or rogue extensions will often partner up with rogue ad networks and source ads through them. This means that the ads may link to misleading websites, potentially unwanted programs, questionable content or scam pages.
This sort of behavior is shared between adware apps and browser hijackers and this type of extension has similarities that bring it closer to both of those.
Thankfully, getting rid of similar browser extensions and the ads they bring with them is usually very easy. You just need to navigate to your browser's extensions or addons menu, select the extension and click "Remove". In the majority of cases, this will take care of the issue.
