Deed RAT Logs New Activity Spike
Deed RAT, a piece of remote access trojan malware, has seen a resurgence in use over the recent weeks.
Deed RAT, as the name suggests, is a remote access trojan or a RAT in short. This sort of malware usually attempts to keep a low profile on your system and stays hidden for as long as possible, while performing malicious spying activities.
This sort of malware can scrape system information, interact with files on the infected system, including deleting, moving or uploading to the system, and tinker with Windows registry settings.
The ability to operate with files makes Deed RAT especially dangerous. Coupling this with the malware's ability to upload files from a remote location to the infected system means that the malware can be used as a dropper for deploying additional, much more dangerous malware such as ransomware or cryptomining malware.
Finding a remote access trojan is never an easy task and will usually require the use of a dedicated anti-malware application to track down and remove all traces of the malware.
