WARLOCK DARK ARMY ransomware is de nieuwste kloon van de Chaos ransomware-familie die in het wild werd gespot.

WARLOCK DARK ARMY versleutelt de meeste bestanden die op het systeem van het slachtoffer worden gevonden, waardoor ze onbruikbaar worden. Eenmaal versleuteld, zullen bestanden een nieuwe extensie ontvangen die een krachtterm bevat. Het coderingsproces zal een bestand met de naam "image.png" omzetten in "image.png.f**ckcrypt".

De ransomware zal de meeste soorten media, documenten, archieven, databases en uitvoerbare bestanden door elkaar gooien.

Zodra het klaar is met het versleutelen van het systeem, laat de ransomware zijn losgeldeis vallen in een bestand met de naam "read_it.txt" en plaatst het bestand op het bureaublad. Het volledige losgeld nota gaat als volgt:
