Mp3juices Ads
Mp3juices is the name of a number of domains with different extensions that all offer the same thing - free download of digital music in MP3 format. While this sounds great on the surface, there are a few very real issues with the websites and services they offer.
First and foremost, despite the fact that Mp3juice has a copyright statement on their pages, claiming their service does nothing wrong because the files you download are not hosted on their servers, it doesn't take a copyright lawyer to figure out something is very wrong. The websites facilitate the illegal download of licensed music, with no payment or royalties associated with the download process.
It appears that the majority of the websites operated under the Mp3juice name work like regular YouTube downloaders - the search provided by Mp3juice simply searches YouTube and then converts a video to MP3. This is certainly against YouTube's terms of service and technically also illegal.
On top of all that the website uses aggressive advertising, including invisible overlays that would trigger the opening of ads in pop-ups or new browser tabs without the user clicking on an actual ad. This is a common tactic used by illegal download sites to serve advertising that is usually sourced from rogue advertising networks. Visiting similar ads may lead to pages that are unsafe and may trigger the download of malicious files.
If you browse a Mp3juice site with an ad blocker installed, you may think the site is mostly ad-free, but disabling the ad blocker and opening the site again shows a different picture.
Mp3juice uses different domain extensions, including .su, .cc, .icu, .site - all domain extensions frequently used by rogue websites and illegal torrenting pages.
